AFFINITY GROUPS
Clinical Excellence Council
The Clinical Excellence Council (CEC) brings together Nursing, Quality, and Physician leaders to guide and support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives that focus on eliminating harm, maximizing the wellness of partners and patients, and optimizing value in clinical operations. CEC serves as a forum for the evaluation and dissemination of shared best practices that enhance the quality, safety, and experience of SHO members.
Activities include:
- Providing information on the Anthem Hospital Quality Program and Medicare Quality and Patient Satisfaction initiatives
- Collaborating on Indiana Hospital Association Coalition for Care initiatives
- Reviewing benchmark comparisons and monitoring results
- Sharing and sustaining best practice processes, clinical pathways, and protocols
Each year, CEC convenes specialized taskforces to address emerging health care issues. Active taskforces include:
The OB Harm Prevention Taskforce is launched with the mission of eliminating obstetric harm. From reducing infant mortality to sharing resources for breastfeeding education, the group identifies opportunities to improve health outcomes, share and sustain best practice, and monitor improvement, ultimately, to ensure the safest environment for receiving healthcare.
The Patient Experience Taskforce convened to determine the challenges and successes of the hospitals' Patient Experience programs and how internal and external resources can be shared to maximize the patient and visitor experience of SHO hospitals.
The Infection Prevention Taskforce provides a forum for Infection Prevention Directors to share challenges and innovative practices as they work to promote the safest and most streamlined patient care environment.
In addition SHO hosts a number of online workgroups including Coding, Critical Care, ED, Imaging, Life Safety, Med-Surg, Oncology, Perinatal, Pharmacy, Surgical Safety, and Utilization Management.
